Engineering and Emerging Technologies

The Engineering and Emerging Technology Program will expose college students to the historical and modern engineering techniques used throughout the country. With projects such as Project Nour Solar Array and the fog catchers in the rural desert regions, to Hassan II Mosque and the Mohammed VI Bridge in Casablanca and Rabat, there are many different destination visits that can be chosen to meet the interest of the students. Core activities for this program include meeting with University professors and community leaders to discuss the evolving world of technology in Morocco and how this positions it to move forward in the global community. Students will visit startup technology companies to see how technology is used in a Muslim country. They will see how social media and open internet are affecting the development of the country. Along the way, students will experience historical construction technology by visiting sites such as the Roman Ruins in Volubilis and the Imperial cities’ancient medinas. Students will also be culturally immersed through their interactions with their host families and the local community.
