Intercultural Programs
Intercultural Programs in the Kingdom of Morocco aim at introducing college students and youth groups who are interested in learning about the Moroccan culture, the daily life of Moroccan people, by understanding their history, their ethnic, their religious belonging, their way of thinking through a homestay experience in Sefrou, this phase offers participants special insight into Moroccan society The Participants will have the opportunity to meet and engage in conversations with local NGOs, community leaders, University English students from Ifrane and Fez, and US Peace Corps volunteers in the city of Sefrou.
With over 9,000 medieval streets exclusive accessible by foot or donkey Fez is the world's largest contiguous car-free urban area and is home to the oldest continuously functionning university in the world, University of Al karaouine.
The participants will experience UNESCO World Heritage sites of Roman ruins in Volubilis, Jewish heritage walk, hiking to remote Berber villages in the Atlas Mountains, meet with indigenous people of North Africa, and cultural excursions to the national park of Ifrane.
7 Day Interculural Program Sample Itinerary
Casablanca- Rabat- Fez- Sefrou- Ifrane
Day1 Casablanca
- · Pick up from the International airport of Casablanca
- · Orientation with MOBT program leader
- · Night in a hotel in Casablanca.
Day 2 Casablanca- Rabat
- · Visit Hassan II mosque in Casablanca.( It’s considered to be the biggest religion building in the world and the biggest mosque in the Arab world)
- · Depart for the imperial city of Rabat
- · Meet with Moroccan host families.
- · Visit the king Mohammed VI mausoleum and Roman ruins of Chellah
Day 3 Rabat- Fez
- · Visit the Andalousian quarter in the medina of Rabat.
- · Depart for the ancient imperial city of Morocco Fez.
- · Guided cultural tour in the medina of Fez (Markets, tanneries, museums, Al karaouine University…)
- · Settle into a guest house in Fez.
Day 4 Sefrou (Sefrou which had once a Jewish population of nearly 40%)
- · Depart for the historical city of Sefrou.
- · Meet with host Moroccan host families
- · Jewish heritage walk in the medina of sefrou
- · Community service projects with local NGOs and associations at the Youth Center of Sefrou.
- · Optional Hamam; Steam typical Moroccan bath, a fun and relaxing experience.
Day 5 Sefrou- Ribat lkhir
- · Transfer to Ribat lkhir Berber village.
- · Meet with Adwal women cooperative.
- · Discussion about the role of women in rural areas in small business development
- · Meet with volunteers from the United States Peace corps.
Day 6 Sefrou- Ifrane
- · Depart for the Moroccan Switzerland ‘Ifrane’ 40 minutes.
- · Cultural excursion in the Middle Atlas mountains with Students from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane
- · Visit the beautiful lake of Dayet Aoa. A possibility of horseback riding with Berbers.
- · Discover the wildlife of The National Park of Ifrane. The largest Cedar forest in Africa.
- · Individual time with Moroccan host families in Sefrou.
Day 7 Sefrou- Casablanca
- · Return flight.
